Seasonal Programs

Great riders always begin their riding careers
working with horses and ponies on the ground,
so that's where our Seasonal Programs begin.
Participants will learn the basics about horsemanship,
which include all the things we do
to take care of our equine friends,
their equipment and their living spaces.

Seasonal programs start with learning about horse sense (how horses think and why), about safety so everyone can keep safe while working around the barn and taking care of equines. All lessons include hands-on training and reviews in barn safety protocol: deportment in and around the barn, safe handling, safety knots, haltering, leading and tying, grooming, barn cleaning, feeding, tack care, braiding and much more.

Summer Horsemanship & Riding Lessons

Our summer program is an alternative to camp. You can personalize your riding lesson schedules by picking the times & days that are good for you.

If you are not sure which lessons to register for, just ask. A private assessment lesson may be necessary to evaluate your skill level if you are new to our program and your skills would influence your class placement.

  • Morning Lessons (9am -12:30 pm)
  • Afternoon Lessons (12noon -3:30pm).
  • Late Afternoon Lessons (2pm-6pm) are limited to staff and RR’s. This program has prerequisites; please check before you register if you are not sure.

Late afternoon lessons are open only to riders with sufficiently developed horsemanship skills to work independently & riding skills confirmed at W/T/C and some knowledge of correct jumping.

Summer Short Stirrup Lessons (age 5 +) are offered Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 12:30 pm and 2:30pm to 5pm. These are ½ hour private lessons for very young riders who are being introduced to ponies and taking their first riding lessons.
