If your child is new to riding, you will find an outline of first
riding expectations in the description of our Short
Stirrup and Pony Pal programs. This
valuable information will enable you to understand the process that your
rider will undergo in order to achieve basic riding skills. If your
rider has had previous riding experience they will be in a class that
continues their riding education from the point at which they had
achieved acceptable competency. Once riders regularly begin trot work
their mounted classes become more vigorous, while on-the-ground classes
continue through advanced horsemanship.
We teach balance seat equitation, in the English riding tradition.
Our teaching methods include: mock horse shows, drill team, mounted
games, ring work, gymnastic patterns in jumping, and cross country work
when riders are secure in their fundamentals.
Our small class structure provides the most reluctant riders a chance
to excel and more forward riders a chance to work at an independent
pace. The decision to move from the Stablemates program to the Rough
Rider program is made when a rider feels the need to spend more time
working in our barn.
